Make it four consecutive three-game sweeps and another Western Athletic Conference title for the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team as they concluded their final road trip of the 2007 WAC season.

The No. 11 Rainbow Wahine improved to 14-0 in the WAC and 20-4 overall, coming off back-to-back road sweeps against the Nevada Wolf Pack and the Fresno State Bulldogs. With the wins, the Rainbow Wahine volleyball squad earned their 12th WAC title.

On Thursday, the Rainbow Wahine defeated the Wolf Pack 30-17, 30-20, 30-27 at the Virginia Street Gym. The Rainbow Wahine snapped Nevada's four-match win streak as the Wolf Pack dropped to 9-5 in the WAC and 13-9 overall.

Leading the way for the Rainbow Wahine was junior outsider hitter Jamie Houston, who posted 21 kills and eight digs, ending the match hitting .410. Sophomore outside hitter Aneli Cubi-Otineru finished the night with 11 kills, eight digs, four blocks and a service ace, while hitting .333. As a team, the Rainbow Wahine outhit the Wolf Pack .304 to .094.

With little time to rest, the Rainbow Wahine flew out to San Francisco and, despite the delayed flight leading up to their matchup against the Bulldogs, played through what was said to be symptoms of the flu. The Rainbow Wahine took the contest against Fresno State 30-26, 30-25, 30-23.

Head coach Dave Shoji stayed back in Reno due to symptoms of the Norwalk virus. Assistant coaches Kari Ambrozich and Mike Sealy took over the coaching duties for the Fresno State match.

Cubi-Otineru recorded 14 kills and 13 digs, while hitting .385. Houston added 17 kills and 15 digs. Houston is now currently seventh on the all-time career kills list with 1,432 kill, surpassing the previous record of Reydan "Tita" Ahuna (1984 to 1987), who had 1,411 kills.

The Rainbow Wahine outhit the Bulldogs .237 to .131 and outdug the Bulldogs 63 to 45. The Bulldogs, though, were able to outblock the Rainbow Wahine 15 to 8. With the win over Fresno State, the Rainbow Wahine maintained a perfect 42-0 all-time series record against the Bulldogs.

The team will end the 2007 WAC regular season with their final two matches at the Stan Sheriff Center. They host the San Jose State Spartans on Thursday at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, they will close the season with the Utah State Aggies and recognize four seniors, middle blockers Juliana Sanders, Kari Gregory and Caroline Blood, and libero Raeceen Woolford. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with the senior festivities to follow the match.
